Product details

By the end of the 1960s, a new women's movement emerged from the general protest movement in West Germany. This movement quickly went beyond demands for equal rights for women and men, fundamentally questioning both capitalist and patriarchal structures. Numerous groups employed confrontational methods of engagement. However, these militant strands of feminism have hardly been represented in the extensive literature on the women's movement. This study addresses an important research gap. The author focuses on three areas: the fight against the abortion ban, violence against women and sexist advertising, as well as international women's solidarity. She examines various actors, ranging from the rebellious SDS women to Alice Schwarzer and armed women.
