Product details

For working with SketchUp, it is important to understand the philosophy of the program, as it operates differently from conventional 3D modeling programs or traditional CAD software. The desired shape is modeled based on basic geometric forms. The finished results range from simple shapes, such as those used in urban planning, to complex designs in architecture, interior design, and product design, to name just a few areas. The sculptural approach is closest to the way SketchUp works.

How are 3D models created in SketchUp? In reality, shapes are formed by the edges of objects, the associated shadows, and different colors. In SketchUp, lines (instead of edges) and the surfaces formed by these lines take on this function. Modeling is done either by drawing lines and the resulting surfaces or by using rectangular, circular, or curved basic shapes. By continuously adding new lines (edges) and the resulting new surfaces, as well as modifying these surfaces, the models develop.

And SketchUp accomplishes all of this with just a few functions and tools. The trick is that most tools or functions can be used in different ways. By combining commands, shapes that were previously thought impossible suddenly become possible. You just need to know the tricks. This book will explain them to you step by step through many examples.
