Around 1920, the correction method developed by Prof. Gocht was established at the Charité in Berlin, where physiotherapist Ms. Gessner integrated the exercises of Dr. von Niederhöffer. This therapy has since been continuously modified and adapted to modern standards in its application to patients by the teachers of the renowned physiotherapy school at Oskar-Helene-Heim. Hilda Mater, who was at the school from 1948 to 1979, brought the scoliosis treatment from Charité as a specialty to the physiotherapy school and opened a clinic where approximately 50 treatments were conducted weekly by students under the guidance of the responsible teacher. This was and remains unique in Germany. When Mater took over the school management in 1968, Heidi Martens followed as a teacher specializing in scoliosis treatment, incorporating elements of the French Cotrell and breathing therapy.
