The work addresses a topic that is of economic policy relevance. It was developed as part of a research project involving German specialists and executives from various sectors of the economy, as well as students from the Industrial Engineering program at Münster University of Applied Sciences. With globalization, the interconnections of international companies are increasing. This results in a smooth collaboration being highly dependent on linguistic and communicative competencies. Therefore, the author first examines intercultural encounters in the work processes of German and American specialists and executives. Based on the findings, a course system for industrial engineers is developed, taught, and empirically evaluated. To assess the intercultural learning outcomes of the students, the results from the teaching project are compared with those of the German specialists and executives. This course system can specifically prepare industrial engineers for their future professional activities.
