Since the Middle Ages, the Thuringians have been brewing traditional beers. With great pride, they even look back on a purity law from the year 1434. The book discusses the basic ingredients of hops, malt, and water, which are integral to the brewing process description. It briefly introduces 27 Thuringian breweries. The listing of beer varieties and brands, along with a small lexicon of beer types, provides insight into the art of brewing and its results. Beer sayings for beer lovers, the connection between Bach and the beer opera, as well as the tourist significance of the Beer and Castle Road, highlight the importance of beer not only for Thuringia. Cooking with beer is an age-old practice. It is excellent for preparing roasts, sauces, and desserts. A few recipes are included to inspire experimentation.
