German Music Edition Award 2004! This method is aimed at beginner drummers, particularly those in elementary school age, and is suitable for both individual and group lessons. The author does not view the snare drum as a secondary instrument to the drum set but aims to emphasize the independence of this instrument, which has a centuries-old tradition and a rich concert repertoire. Furthermore, it makes sense for students in elementary school to start with the snare drum until they develop motor skills and a certain rhythmic confidence that allows for the use of the drum set. This method facilitates a playful engagement with what has been learned through included rhythm playing cards, which are also suitable for general rhythm instruction.
