Model exhibition! The three-dimensional architectural model – in a scaled-down version – has been and continues to be a tool in the field of architecture and urban planning for communicating planned or realized architecture. The model can efficiently convey information about larger spatial contexts that may be perceived very differently, or perhaps not at all, in full size. This is because the model, through its reduction, also simplifies spatial complexity. Suddenly, one can see at a glance what can only be experienced piece by piece in real size through the temporal process of physical exploration. It is noteworthy that contemporary art often engages with architectural and urban models, liberating them from their narrowly defined functional context, allowing their primarily phenomenological qualities to be adapted and utilized for artistic inquiries.
