What makes a city? How can it be retold? "100 x Frankfurt" offers a completely different perspective on the urban community: Objects from the collection of the Historical Museum Frankfurt are linked with stories that tell multifaceted narratives of their respective eras. The 100 objects represent events and notable figures from a span of over 1,000 years, contributing to the collective memory of the city. Whether it's an umbrella, a covered goblet, or a typewriter – these items have shaped epochs of the city's history: The umbrella of a citizen played a role in a court case in 1848, the goblet was a gift from religious refugees in the 16th century to the city that provided them asylum. The typewriter comes from one of the largest factories that operated nationwide in Germany in the early 20th century. The exhibits can be seen in the eponymous gallery at the Historical Museum Frankfurt as part of the new urban historical exhibition "Frankfurt Once." The book expands on the stories of the objects and includes illustrations.
