From case to community - this motto has initiated a reorientation in social work over the past two decades, shifting from individual case assistance (specialized in specific problem situations) to social work within the social space. This is particularly true (but not exclusively) for child and youth welfare. The methodological actions of social work needed to be expanded, and the structures of social organizations as well as public authorities had to be changed. This textbook addresses this development by sharpening the focus on the social space, providing an impression of the very different approaches in municipalities, and encouraging the development of a professional attitude that thoughtfully engages with the diversity of methods and coexisting approaches.
