Social work in rural areas is confronted with specific framework conditions and challenges. These include the density of offers and accessibility, network formation, anonymity, increased migration, especially from peripheral areas, political structures, or questions of belonging. However, research and concepts for social work in rural areas are rare in Germany. This book takes a historical, theoretical, and organizational look at social work in rural areas. The aim is to find an understanding of the specific requirements of social work in rural areas and to provide advice and suggestions for successful practice. The content includes a conceptual approach to rural areas, historical perspectives, history and challenges, who takes possession of rural areas, and structural characteristics for social work.
