Prostitution represents a tabooed fringe area of society, about which there is hardly any solid information and scientific knowledge available. Women engaged in prostitution face societal prejudices, social discrimination, and legal disadvantages, and therefore require specific counseling and accessible services. Social work has a long tradition in providing individual case assistance for this target group and advocates for the rights and dignity of women. This volume offers an overview of the complexity of the field of prostitution from the perspective of professional social work and presents theoretical and methodological approaches.
