Since Einstein, we have known that there is a close relationship between space and time in the physical world. However, according to Gunter Weidenhaus, space and time are also connected in the social world in a way that is fundamental to our world relations. With "Social Spacetime," he presents the first systematic study on this topic and demonstrates how social spaces, such as homelands or nation-states, are associated with specific conceptions of time. Against the backdrop of accelerated social change, time appears episodic and fragmented, while space transforms from territorial large units into networks. For the first time, the relationship between space and time is systematically explored and evidenced from a social science perspective.
