Profound social transformation processes and changed self-descriptions of modern societies, coupled with demands for and promises of more education and lifelong learning, present a comprehensive set of challenges for cultural education and social work. This volume addresses current societal and academic developments and questions in this context, such as the significance of education, culture, and values in the knowledge and information society, in the context of globalization, with regard to changing intergenerational relationships, in relation to institutional transformation processes, or the disciplinary and professional self-understanding.
