The question of the current state of social philosophy and the contours of a critical social theory following the tradition of the Frankfurt School is now the subject of an international and interdisciplinary debate. With the introduction of the category of "struggle for recognition" by Axel Honneth, it has received a variety of new impulses. This perspective highlights those social misdevelopments and pathologies that are responsible for social disrespect and the systematic violation of claims to successful identity development.
