Product details

Edith's apartment has cancer, and the metastases are pushing plastic flowers, golden hearts, and floral wreaths into the corners and crevices. Colorful carcinomas are sprawling from all sides toward the television. The resident herself is somewhat out of sorts; constantly under pressure, she disrupts the family unit on Christmas Eve. Even the optician in the titular story succumbs to an uncontrollable impulse and suddenly falls out of character during the apartment search. The group of scholarship students in "Night Swimming" is caught up in a dynamic that nearly ends in tragedy, and Jonna, the young mother, cannot meet society's expectations: the baby lies in her arms like an alien. It is the moments when something goes awry and the organism turns against itself that Thomas Melle explores in his debut. With the perspective of a morphologist, he follows the veins.
