This anthology presents a selection of the lectures given at the 2nd Student Congress of Comparative Literature at the University of Bonn. Literary and cultural studies cannot be conceived without the interplay of literature and myth. Mythical thought patterns are always part of societal consciousness and the discourses that take place. The omnipresence of ancient mythical themes in literary and cultural history is evident in the recurring literary and artistic processing and renewal of motifs, figures, and narrative patterns from these themes, which continue to be received and reinterpreted even in our present time. The anthology reflects this diversity of myth reception as well as the relevance of the topic for various research disciplines.
