On his new Blue Note album, guitar virtuoso Julian Lage remains true to his unique musical style while collaborating for the first time with producer Joe Henry. When Joe Henry heard Lage's songs in their raw form for the first time, he was intrigued by the challenge of enhancing Lage's improvisational artistry while highlighting the strength of his compositions. Speak To Me showcases Julian Lage in various settings: solo acoustic, in a duo, in the familiar trio with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Dave King, as well as in a larger ensemble featuring keyboards and woodwinds. Lage's fourth work for Blue Note was created during a particularly creative phase, during which he was also part of Charles Lloyd's Trio of Trios project and collaborated with various artists.
