In March 2016, Olaf Nicolai's solo exhibition "7 Postcards for Innsbruck" was opened at the baroque Palais Fugger-Taxis, which housed a post station until the early 20th century. His filmic-sculptural work referenced the use of the place where messages and communications were distributed. Throughout the exhibition, seven "Sound Postcards" were sent to Innsbruck at regular intervals. The sender was a singer who recorded messages from various locations during her journey. Seven photographs of stone cuts, created by Nicolai for the exhibition and displayed in Innsbruck, served as notation for the songs. During the exhibition, each song was presented alongside the corresponding image in a 35 mm film installation, allowing visitors to observe the development of the work over the course of the exhibition.
