The apparatus

Product details
The apparatus shows a photographer taking pictures. You can't see what she is capturing, but you can observe every single step of how her gaze focuses on the subject, how the camera relates to her body, and how her body - the musculoskeletal system - turns towards the object. The entire session is recorded in a laboratory setting: the figure wears various clothing styles - casual look and a bulletproof vest with a helmet. She moves on an office carpet among cuboid objects. Different locations and scenarios with varying meanings are simulated. While the previous series, Figure I, Figure II, and Society, focused on the appearance itself, the question of the readability of signs, gestures, and the relationships between the figures, The Apparatus emphasizes an action with a figure. It is the third and for now.
