Speech and silence
German, Niklas Luhmann, Peter Fuchs, 2007Product details
The essays in this book, which present themselves in a rather essayistic manner, strictly relate incommunicability to communication. They explore the assumption that within the functional complex of communication, there are points of self-blockage, meaning that something that occurs communicatively cannot happen communicatively precisely because it is happening in a communicative manner. This describes a paradox that can be assumed to redirect itself, one that must be made invisible if communication disasters are to be avoided. The intention reflected in the exploration of this thesis aims to broaden a too narrow perspective of what has been referred to as the unity of the social: communication.
