The "Overview of Engineering Geology," as the book was previously titled, has proven to be highly effective in four editions, both for students and for professional geologists and civil engineers. The new edition has been modernized and expanded in many areas, particularly the chapters on rock and mountain description as well as tunnel construction. A new, highly relevant topic on mining consequences has also been introduced. Current structural changes in European and international standardization have been taken into account in all chapters.
