Product details
Andrew Jackson Davis (August 11, 1826, in Blooming Grove, New York; January 13, 1910, in Boston, Massachusetts) was an American spiritualist. At the age of 16, Davis, as an apprentice shoemaker, came under the influence of the somnambulist magnetizer Livingston and exhibited surprising phenomena of clairvoyance. In 1843, he attended lectures on animal magnetism in Poughkeepsie and discovered that he possessed remarkable clairvoyant abilities. This enabled him to diagnose illnesses, earning him a reputation as a seer. The following year, he claimed to receive spiritual messages from Galen and Swedenborg, which guided him on his life path. He took on a clergyman, William Fishbough, as an assistant and moved to New York.
