Product details
In 1932, the young German architect Rudolf Wolters signed a contract with the Berlin representation of the Soviet People's Commissariat for Railway Transport for a work obligation in the USSR. Two years earlier, Wolters had defended his dissertation on the design of train stations, while the People's Commissariat had been unsuccessfully searching for such a specialist. At that time, there was little work for architects in Germany, and not only grand projects but also curiosity drew them to Soviet Russia. Hundreds of foreign engineers and technicians from various fields were working there, and there were incredible reports about everything happening there. Wolters was offered a contract for ten years with a salary of 600 rubles per month. However, he decided to limit it to one year before returning full of experiences.
