Anna Vorwerk (April 1, 1839, in Königslutter; November 18, 1900, in Wolfenbüttel) was a German women's rights activist. She came from a respected and wealthy bourgeois family. Her father became a senior court advisor at the Higher Court of the Land in Wolfenbüttel in 1851. When the Vorwerks arrived, there was already a six-class girls' school in the city, which Anna Vorwerk attended. This was not a given in the mid-19th century. Ultimately, she founded the Anna Vorwerk School for Girls in 1866, which she led for many years. The school was located in the castle of Wolfenbüttel, where the Gymnasium im Schloss still exists today, which has long been accessible to both girls and boys and is currently attended by around 1,500 students.
