Church hymns and spiritual songs have been and continue to be known to millions of people in the past and present, often familiar by heart. However, there has not yet been a representative scientifically annotated edition. The Spiritual Wonderhorn presents fifty great church hymns and spiritual songs, from "Christ is risen" (11th century) to "The chaos created in human land" (1990), in text and melody critically examined versions with poetic, musical, and historical impact explanations.
