Berlin in autumn 1932. Lawyer Eugen Goltz travels to New York on behalf of banker Philipp Arnheim to arrange the divorce from his American wife, Florence. There, he learns about a mysterious Pharaoh, the leader of an occult secret society in Berlin that seems to be connected to the National Socialist movement. Shortly thereafter, Florence Arnheim dies under mysterious circumstances. Goltz returns to Berlin. Both disgusted and fascinated, he approaches the secret society and makes a terrible discovery.
