Robots, artificial machines, have continually inspired the imagination of artists, authors, and filmmakers. Sometimes the fascination takes center stage, at times it is fear, but most often it is a combination of both. Androids, not least because of their human-like appearance, serve as a constant reminder of the limits of humanity. At the same time, these boundaries are increasingly blurred, regardless of whether robots dream of electric sheep or not. This provides a good reason to explore this topic from various perspectives in a mini-concept series consisting of initially four volumes. In "Androids," robots appear both as threats and as saviors of humanity, and occasionally even as the true guardians of humanity. Or simply as robots – electric sheep or not.
