Markus Heitz's novel 'The Dwarves', published in 2003, is one of the most successful German fantasy novels and spent months on the fiction bestseller lists. For Heitz himself, the publication marked his definitive breakthrough as an author. This was followed by audiobook adaptations and spectacularly staged readings that resembled an elaborate theater production. Designed as a four-volume series, which will also be complemented by a complete edition in graphic novel format upon completion, the next media translation of the first book is now beginning at Splitter Verlag: The spectacular struggle for survival of the dwarves, whose land is threatened by three enormous forces - the trolls, the ogres, and the orcs - is now also making its way into comics.
