According to a study by the international aid organization Oxfam, today only 85 people possess as much wealth as the entire poorer half of the world's population. It doesn't seem far-fetched that in the near future, just sixteen families will have divided the whole world among themselves, relegating the rest of humanity to 'servants' and 'waste'. To secure their wealth and power, each of these families keeps a genetically modified 'Lazarus', who is nearly invincible and practically immortal. Greg Rucka has written a gripping apocalyptic drama, and Michael Lark has created cool, unflinchingly clear visuals for it. It's no coincidence that 'Lazarus' was nominated for the Eisner Award for 'Best New Series' in 2014.
