A kingdom, a shining knight, a noble villain with a dark secret, and high-tech in the service of heroism and law and order: the world of "Nimona" is not quite what one might expect from Grimm's fairy tales. Nimona herself is not either. The enthusiastic, somewhat pushy teenager unexpectedly appears one day in the lair of archvillain Ballister Blackheart to offer herself as his sidekick. Her excitement for his villainous plans is one thing, but what ultimately convinces him is another trait of hers: she is a shapeshifter. This inevitably piques the interest of the Institute for Law and Order and Heroism, and soon the balance of power in the fairy tale kingdom is significantly disrupted. The initially clear distinction between good and evil becomes increasingly blurred.
