Despite many efforts to focus on competence, task, and action orientation, traditional methods continue to be widely used in language teaching practice, particularly concerning teaching progression, proficiency levels, error correction, and performance assessment. However, with the advancement of cognitive linguistics and other cognitively oriented neighboring disciplines, a paradigm shift is beginning to take place in language teaching in many respects. The cognitive linguistic foundations of this paradigm shift and various application possibilities for language acquisition are systematized in this volume and illustrated using the example of grammar animations. This volume is the first in a new series that will be accompanied by online modules for training and further education.
