Language barriers significantly hinder psychotherapy with refugees and migrants. The use of interpreters often fails in practice due to funding issues. Based on this experience, the authors have developed manuals that enable therapists and group leaders to adapt their therapy offerings to the language proficiency of refugees. Through symbolic interactions, drawings, and simple explanations, patients with limited German language skills can participate in group therapies. The book contains two manuals, each with different focuses: the psychoeducational group for resource activation and the trauma stabilization group. The manuals explain the session procedures step by step. Additionally, the book includes important information about refugee status, the topic of stress in a foreign environment, and practical tips for interaction in group therapy.
