The book presented here brings together texts that were created as part of the research project "Investigating the Creative Workshop of the Basel Bürgerspital, which was examined, described, and represented by the people employed there." The clumsy title of the project relates to the history of this initiative, which lasted from October 2013 to the end of January 2017, as can be seen from the various texts collected here. This project functioned somewhat differently than other research projects in many respects. Therefore, we decided to describe it from different perspectives. This book serves that purpose.

A group of individuals with limitations in the so-called cognitive and/or mental areas came together to conceive and develop a research question. The research activities arising from this question were carried out by the group members, all of whom are from the Creative Workshop of the Basel Bürgerspital.

This research group was coordinated by a team of three researchers from the University of Zurich. The research was funded by the University of Zurich, with financial support from the Federal Office for the Equality of People with Disabilities.
