The book provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of U.S. law regarding genetic testing used in medicine. The United States holds a leading position internationally in the field of human genetics and in the application of research findings to medical practice. This prominent status is reflected in the fact that the genetic tests and procedures developed there are used worldwide. This applies not only to consumer genetic tests from U.S. providers but also to clinical genetic tests that physicians outside the U.S. order for their patients and then send to a U.S. testing laboratory for analysis.
