Marcel Michels describes opportunities for civil society engagement against the machinations of organized crime. Using the Mafia as an example, he illustrates the organizational and action forms of criminal groups and demonstrates how an anti-Mafia movement functions in terms of support possibilities from social professions. Drawing on theories and methods from pedagogy and social work, he explores existing or potentially future forms of support for the anti-Mafia movement. Among other things, he describes how to eliminate or at least mitigate the negative consequences caused by organized crime for affected individuals and society.
