"Tempora mutantur" - times are changing, and with them, the business model of automotive banks. While the first edition of this handbook for automotive banks was still influenced by the global financial and economic crisis, the role of manufacturer-related institutions has changed over the past five years; their responsibilities have expanded. The search engine Google currently lists 1,600,000 entries under the keyword "automotive financial services," a 320 percent increase compared to the 500,000 entries in 2009. The development of automotive banks is driven by three megatrends: consumer behavior, digitalization, and regulation. The impacts of changes in the economic, technological, financial, and regulatory environment on the business model of automotive banks are incorporated into this second edition. Therefore, the first edition has been completely revised.
