The generation, linking, and evaluation of large data sets, often referred to as "Big Data," is rapidly gaining importance in nearly all areas of life. This development is associated with questions of significant societal relevance. Discussions about a new balance between harnessing innovation potential on one hand and realizing individual and societal values on the other have only just begun.
