Product details

The textbook introduces the fundamental principles and working methods of fracture mechanics and micromechanics. It focuses on the mechanical description of fracture processes, while also discussing material-specific aspects. Following the treatment of continuum mechanics and phenomenological foundations, there is an insight into classical fracture and failure hypotheses, as well as macro- and microscopic phenomena of fracture. A substantial part is dedicated to linear and elastic-plastic fracture mechanics. Other topics include creep fracture mechanics, fracture dynamics, damage mechanics, and probabilistic fracture mechanics. An introduction to micromechanics and the homogenization of elastic, elastic-plastic, and thermoelastic materials complements the work. The 6th edition includes numerous expansions, including aspects of numerical methods.
