Product details

The body contact disorder is one of the most overlooked disorders. Empirical findings and experiences from therapy practice increasingly show that this disorder exists: the inability of babies and children to establish eye or body contact with their parents. The findings also indicate that when the ability for body contact is blocked, and thus the ability to bond is disturbed, the likelihood of later behavioral issues in social interactions significantly increases. Through social behavior, body contact disorder can influence all areas of life – such as play and learning behavior, interactions with peers, or conflict behavior. It thus poses a widespread threat to mental health. This book is the first comprehensive work on this "overlooked disorder": a multidisciplinary team of authors (including pediatricians, child and adolescent therapists).
