The increasing importance of asbestos cement pressure pipes in the construction of drinking water, wastewater, gas, and industrial pipelines has made the need for a comprehensive treatment of all issues associated with this piping material more urgent. So far, there has not been a summarizing presentation on asbestos cement pressure pipes. Although there are numerous individual publications both domestically and internationally, most of them are quite dated and often do not reflect the current state of knowledge. Furthermore, they usually only address specific problems. For this reason, ETERNIT AG in Berlin approached me with the request to fill this existing gap and provide planning and executing engineers with all the relevant information about today's asbestos cement pressure pipes.
