Product details
This work unveils for the first time the most significant and comprehensive collection of avifaunal data from the 16th century in Central Europe. The source is the Latin edition of the bird book by the prominent Zurich physician and polymath Conrad Gessner (1516 - 1565). With approximately 260 species, of which around 240 are illustrated, it is possible to reconstruct the bird world of the 16th century based on this foundation.
