The objective of the Lisbon Agenda from 2010, which aims to harmonize payment services in the Euro and European Economic Area to facilitate cross-border payments as easily, efficiently, and securely as national payments, is ensured by the introduction of modern and comprehensive regulations such as PSD I, PSD II, and SEPA. In particular, the continuation and optimization of the content should sustainably secure the future increase in welfare effects for all market participants. Stefan Huch describes the current status of the PSD (I/II) and SEPA regulations. Additionally, the author outlines the distinctions between the regulations and describes the key bodies in this context.
