Andrea Kuhn explains the development process of the first nursing chamber in Germany, located in Rhineland-Palatinate, from the perspective of nursing. The author outlines the long path of professionalization in nursing up to the current state and the stages of political development leading to the establishment of the state nursing chamber. She elaborates on the specifics of the heterogeneous nursing profession and incorporates the views of other stakeholders. Building on this, she identifies advantages and aggregates recommendations that address the gaps from the perspective of professional nursing and enable a targeted chamber establishment. This nursing science pilot work consolidates the many "loose ends" of the profession in light of self-administration, which has been demanded by professional political circles for over 20 years as a missing component for the professionalization of the healthcare profession in nursing.
