Product details
Lesya Ivasyuk takes a comprehensive and interdisciplinary look at the Polish Revolution of 1846 for the first time. She demonstrates that this event, which occurred 171 years ago, was a precursor to the "Springtime of Nations" and sparked numerous attempts at modernization, despite its geographically limited scope. The outbreak of the revolution in the Austrian border province of Galicia stirred all of Europe. Once again, the Polish question was on the agenda, with the role of the peasants being crucial. The Austrian monarchy became a target of international criticism due to its approach to suppression. The historical hermeneutics employed and conceptually expanded by the author allowed for qualitatively new interpretations of this event.
