Mathematics instruction in higher schools differs radically from the way mathematics is taught at universities. There is hardly any subject where a deeper gap needs to be bridged when transitioning to higher education. The authors build a bridge by explaining the language, principles, and conventions of mathematics in relation to the content: fundamental ideas and notations, propositional logic, naive set theory, algebraic structures, number sets, and analytical geometry. Exercises and examples are integrated into the text.
