To understand practical pharmacy in general and applied pharmacy, known as galenics, in particular, the future pharmacist will receive training in the auxiliary sciences of botany, pharmacognosy, chemistry, and physics during their internship and study period. This book assumes only basic knowledge from school in these subjects. To provide a good understanding of the processes involved in pharmaceutical work, further explanations necessary for beginners in the profession have been incorporated. Important terms for chemical-physical understanding, such as osmosis and dialysis, are addressed in dedicated chapters with consideration of pharmaceutical practice. Additionally, some common tasks in the pharmacy, such as filtering, grinding, and drying, are discussed separately.
