Over fifty Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (EAF) are presented briefly and concisely regarding their intent. This is followed by a detailed description of over thirty selected EAFs, based on a uniform feature matrix. The matrix consists of 35 framework characteristics: the frameworks are generally characterized with information about the developer, versions, market relevance, and interdependencies. More specific details such as availability, supporting tools, and acquisition costs are included for the practitioner’s interest. Furthermore, EAFs are described based on characteristics that are relevant to the information manager and their requirements for aspects to consider when examining an information system architecture. A summary representation is provided to illustrate the variety of support offered by the frameworks.
