Product details

Around 70 years ago, the statics of engineering structures took on its current form. Culmann, Ritter, Mohr, and Müller-Breslau, to name just a few of the most significant figures, were the creators of this achievement, following the theoretical foundations laid by mathematicians such as Poisson, Cauchy, Clebsch, Maxwell, and St-Venant in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the 1980s, Müller-Breslau gave the statics of multiple stable structures its classical form in representation and notation. This theory, referred to in the present work as the "force method," brought the calculation of structures into a purely analytical form. However, this analytical approach did not satisfy everyone. Many found abstract thinking unappealing, leading to a search for "intuitive" calculation methods. Mohr, in particular, was instrumental in these efforts.
