Product details

Riverbanks in the city are attractive places with high recreational value. Designing such urban river landscapes is subject to various requirements: flood protection, open space design, and ecology are typically the three dominant themes. These need to be harmonized, often in very confined spaces. It is important to understand the river in its dynamic nature: due to changing water levels, seasons, and erosion and sedimentation processes, the river space is not a static entity but is constantly changing - the design must be flexible and take this into account. This book is the result of a multi-year study in which over 50 projects from Western Europe were subjected to comparative analysis. From these analyses, a systematic catalog of sensible strategies and innovative designs was developed.
