The book "Geology and Ecosystems" was published by an international working group of experts under the auspices of COGEOENVIRONMENT, the Commission of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). Its aim is to develop an interdisciplinary approach to studying the mechanisms and specific characteristics within the system of "living tissue - inanimate nature" under various regional, geological, and anthropogenic conditions. The work requires international contributions from many scientific fields, including the environmental impacts of raw material industries, anthropogenic developments, and medical issues related to the interaction between geology and ecosystems. The working group has established the goals and content of the book and discussed the main topics and chapters. The meetings of the working group took place in Vilnius, Lithuania, and in Warsaw-Kielniki, Poland, to discuss and approve the main contents of all chapters.
